Reflection

I had used Canva in my classroom before taking this class but I now realize I was barely scratching the surface with what Canva could offer. It is so user-friendly, especially after a little practice. It is FUN. I have actually created much more than what is in this portfolio because of ideas from this course! I am working on transferring some of my curriculum to presentations on Canva rather than Google Slides. I will continue to use it to make posters, advertisements, etc. for events and announcements, but they will be significantly upgraded; for example, while I may have created a concert poster previously, I could now create a GIF to be shared to Instagram, or even a video featuring students! It is always a great idea to make classrooms more student-centered.

As far as students using Canva in the classroom, I have so many projects that I will be transferring to Canva instead of the way my students are completing them right now. For example, I have a few different projects in which students create a presentation in Google Slides. The ability for students to insert YouTube videos has disappeared, so I will definitely have students complete it in Canva. As music teachers, I believe it is our duty to give students a place to be creative as often as possible. Canva can give our students that chance without having to fight with technology!
